Frequently asked questions
Getting started
How do I create a profile?
Add a profile, give it a name and choose adult (female or male) or child. Then take or choose one full-body photo. LayerLook finds the body in the photo and maps the top, jacket, bottoms and dress areas automatically. You can create a profile for each person in your household.
How do I get a good photo?
The clearer the photo, the better the areas line up. For the best results:
- Stand in front of a plain white wall.
- Use good, even light. Daylight from a window in front of you works well.
- Hold your arms a little out from your sides.
- Stand with your feet hip-width apart.
- Make sure you are in frame from head to feet.
Plain, fitted clothes help too. If the areas do not look right, simply retake the photo.
Trying clothes on
How does Live try-on work?
Open a profile and choose Live try-on. Pick an area (top, jacket, bottoms or dress), then hold your phone up to a real garment, in a shop or at home. Its colour and pattern fill that area on the profile photo in real time. Move closer to the fabric for a truer colour, and avoid strong shadows or glare.
The camera is only used for the live preview. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
How do I keep colours and build an outfit?
When you like what you see in an area, keep that colour. It stays on that area while you move on to the next one, so you can build a full outfit: a top, a jacket and bottoms, for example. You can use Compare colours (LayerLook Plus) to see options side by side before you decide.
How do saved looks work?
Save a look to come back to it later, for example to show someone before you buy. Saved looks are stored on your phone with the profile they belong to. LayerLook Plus gives you unlimited saved looks.
Why does the colour look slightly different from the real fabric?
Screens, lighting and camera settings all affect how colour appears, so what you see is a close visual guide rather than an exact match. Try the garment in good, even light and hold the phone close to the fabric.
Family and child profiles
How do I switch between family profiles?
Open the Family tab and tap a person to switch to their profile. Each profile keeps its own photo, kept colours and saved looks.
How do child profiles work?
A parent creates a child profile on their own phone, from a photo they take or choose. Child profiles only ever change clothing areas; nothing else about the photo is altered. Like everything in LayerLook, child photos stay on your phone and are never uploaded. Child profiles are part of LayerLook Plus.
Purchases and subscriptions
How do I restore my purchases?
If you have a new phone or have reinstalled LayerLook, use Restore purchases in LayerLook. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy. If you are in a Family Sharing group, shared purchases are restored the same way.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so you manage them in your Apple ID settings:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Choose LayerLook Plus to change or cancel it.
To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 24 hours before your subscription renews. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. For refunds, please use Apple's Report a Problem page, as all payments are processed by Apple.
Your data
How do I delete my data?
All your LayerLook data is stored on your phone, so you are always in control of it.
- Delete a profile to remove that person's photo, body outline, kept colours and saved looks.
- Delete the app to remove everything LayerLook has stored on your phone, including any local account.
We do not hold a copy of your photos or profiles, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side. See the privacy policy for more.
