LayerLook

Privacy policy

Last updated: 25 September 2026

LayerLook is built so that your photos stay with you. Everything the app creates is kept on your iPhone and is never uploaded to us or to anyone else.

1. In short

2. Who we are

LayerLook is made by Skyla's Choice Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales, company number [Company number]. Our registered address is 9 Beverley Drive, Kimberley, Nottingham NG16 2TW, United Kingdom.

For the limited personal data we do handle (described in sections 6 and 7), Skyla's Choice Ltd is the data controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. [ICO registration number, if registered]

You can contact us about privacy at richard@skylaschoice.co.uk.

3. Information that stays on your phone

To work, LayerLook creates and stores the following on your iPhone:

This information is kept in the app's private storage and an on-device database. It is not uploaded to us or to any third party, and we cannot see it. Body detection is carried out on your phone by Apple's Vision framework, so your photos are never sent to a server for processing. LayerLook works fully offline.

If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or to a computer, Apple's backup may include app data, as with any app. That backup is controlled by you and Apple, not by us.

4. Camera and photos

LayerLook asks for camera access so you can:

The live camera feed is processed on your phone as you use it. Nothing is recorded, and nothing from the camera is sent anywhere. If you choose a photo from your photo library instead, only the photo you pick is copied into the app's private storage.

You can turn camera or photo access on or off at any time in the iPhone Settings app.

5. Local accounts

If you create an account in LayerLook, your name, email address and password are stored only on your device. The password is stored hashed, not in plain text. The account is not sent to us, and there is no Skyla's Choice server account or online login. Deleting the app deletes the account.

6. Purchases and RevenueCat

LayerLook Plus subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment card or bank details. Apple's handling of your information is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

To check whether you have LayerLook Plus, the app uses RevenueCat, a service provided by RevenueCat, Inc. RevenueCat acts as our processor and receives:

RevenueCat does not receive your photos, profiles, saved looks or local account details. We use this information only to unlock the features you have paid for, to restore purchases, and to understand our sales. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract with you (providing what you bought) and our legitimate interest in running the app's paid features.

RevenueCat is based in the United States, so this information may be processed outside the UK. Where it is, it is protected by appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy.

7. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach. We use this only to reply and help you, based on our legitimate interest in supporting our users. We keep support emails only for as long as we need them to deal with your request and any follow-up.

8. Advertising, analytics and tracking

LayerLook contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, we do not build a profile of you, and we never sell or share your data for advertising.

9. Children

Child profiles are created and controlled by a parent or carer on their own device. Child profiles only ever change clothing areas; nothing else about the photo is altered. Like all profiles, a child's photo and profile stay on that device and are never uploaded.

Skyla's Choice does not collect any data from children. If you believe a child has contacted us with personal information, please email us and we will delete it.

10. Keeping and deleting your data

Information on your phone stays there until you delete it:

Because we do not hold copies of your photos or profiles, we cannot recover them once deleted. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription; see the support page for how to manage subscriptions.

Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat are kept in line with their own policies and legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

As most LayerLook data never leaves your phone, you can view, change or delete it directly in the app. For anything else, including purchase data held by RevenueCat on our behalf, email richard@skylaschoice.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how LayerLook handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we will also make it clear in the app.
